The Irish Ploughing Championships are billed as the largest events of their kind in Europe. All the major agricultural firms are represented |
Letting the folk know where we are. Even though we were not central this year, the lane way outside was packed with people nevertheless |
Rev. James Porter and Mr. John Irwin getting the front of the tent ready for the many thousands of people passing by. |
Our display boards with Trinitarian Bible Society posters fearlessly proclaiming the Word of God. Book table also with free copies of the Scriptures |
Revs. Peter McIntyre and David McMillan in front of display board. Many hundreds of the Let the Bible Speak Magazine were distributed free at this event. |
Rev. Leslie Curran who looks after the Free Presbyterian Church radio arm (Let the Bible Speak) with his stand. 5,000 cards with details of Irish stations and broadcasting times etc., were distributed. |
Ye must be born again! We always find it better to be "up front" with the people who come into the tent. Thousands of passers by read this fundamental gospel text, including some out loud |
Again: plenty of Scripture texts on display. Note the mud. 160,000 people trampling over a field over 4 days has an impact on the soil. |
Revs. Power, McLernon and McIntyre and Mr Raymond Linden (background) help bag 10,000 Scripture calendars which were all distributed. We needed the bags because of the rain and mud which seems to attend this event every year! |
More brethren working at the bagging of the calendars. We had men working "full time" at this important part of the work, while others were out distributing them. There were no idle hands in this tent! |
If these calendars are put up on the wall in the homes of the people and the page turned each month, then 12 times a year, the Lord is telling the folk: "You need to be saved." Not many calendars were thrown away (compared with the tracts) and most of those which were thrown away could be reused because they were in the plastic bags. A cute move! |
Brother Warnock handing out the calendars as a passer by reads the gospel text from John 14:6 |
We also had 1,000 CD's with a gospel music piece (Sam Houston singing: "On the Golden Streets of Heaven all men hope to walk some day" with its powerful refrain: "I'm depending on the Blood") and a short gospel message on John 1:12 from Rev. Larry Power, who is himself a converted RC from the Republic of Ireland. Most of these were distributed to folk who came into the tent. The radio details were also worked into the CD label which was a lovely Irish scene. |
Rev. David McMillan engaging folk in spiritual conversation over the free tea and biscuits which we provided. A great work was done in this regard with many good solid conversations taking place. We were literally gossiping the gospel (Acts 8:4) |
Rev. Larry Power doing the same. Plenty of gospel literature left on the tables. Many footsore and weary people read the tracts etc., as they drank their tea. |
Interested browser at our book table with Rev. Leslie Curran in the background. |
Some very happy Mennonites (I think) who wandered into our tent. Good TBS poster in the background. If the Scriptures are not given by inspiration of God, then we were wasting our time. |
Another happy couple who came in. They were both converted RC's and were working on a pizza stall. We enjoyed the free pizza they sent us round on Friday. A good view of our book table with Raymond Linden with yet another calendar to be bagged. The calendars had the music and words for the hymn: "Jesus my Saviour to Bethlehem came" on the back. |
A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel. (Proverbs 12:10) A Welsh couple came in and got a cup of tea while Rover got a drink of water. Rev. David McMillan, who has pastored in Wales, got a good chat with them. |
Not a great quality photograph, but we have it here to show that the crowds are so large, that people need to be taxied to the outer regions of the car parks. No plush seats here! |
And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with
compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a
shepherd: and he began to teach them many things. (Matthew 6:34) |
