THE GOSPEL HOTLINE
021 - 4393334

For a number of months now, our church has been running a 24/7 telephone ministry which we advertise on gospel tracts and also in classified newspaper adverts and even on specially printed balloons (below) We have included here the short series of messages we are running leading up to St Patrick's Day. We would love to be able to say a lot more, but we have only two minutes in which to welcome the caller and thank him for calling at the end plus the message itself. So under the circumstances, we don't do too bad! If you are fundamental in your doctrine and evangelising in Ireland (particularly south of the border) and would like to advertise this number, please feel free to do so. Over the year, we have other gospel messages. We change these messages regularly. Even if you cannot use this number in any practical way, please pray for this ministry.

PATRICK'S DAY HOTLINE

Hi! Thank you for calling the HOTLINE Please listen to the whole two minute message. In the few days leading up to St Patrick's Day, I thought it might be a good thing to have a look at this man who is remembered not only here in Ireland, but all over the world.
We do not worship saints or elevate them unduly as others have done. We will not be thinking about a mitred prelate in these daily messages, but a simple shepherd lad who became a Christian in the NT sense of the word and who preached the simple message of the grace of God.
Let me tell you, first of all, what a saint is as defined by the Bible. A saint is just another name for a Christian. NT talks about believers, Christians, disciples and also saints. The terms are synonymous. The church at Corinth was in a bad state spiritually, yet Paul addressed them as saints. Just another name for Christians. This idea that a saint needs to be dead and have miracles ascribed to them or that people can pray to them is most unscriptural indeed.
That means: You can be a saint! Like Patrick or like Paul or Peter or John…you can become a Christian and have your sins all forgiven. We would like to send you some free literature to show you how. So leave us your name and address. Ring again tomorrow as we look in more detail at this man called St Patrick.

Hi! Thank you for calling the HOTLINE Please listen to the whole two minute message. In these few days leading up to St Patrick's Day, we are looking at the man himself. Yesterday, we saw how the common definition of a saint does not match that of the Bible. In the Bible…it is just another name for a Christian.
Patrick was not always a Christian. True, he was born into a Christian home. But that didn't make him a Christian. Billy Sunday once said: being born in a garage doesn't make you an automobile. Indeed Patrick tells us that he rebelled against the thought of being saved and disobeyed those who exhorted him to trust Christ as his Saviour. What a foolish thing to do! Patrick denounces his own actions in this regard as those of a clown or a fool.
Don't be a fool today! We do not preach Jesus unto you as a severe Master or as a burden for your back. We preach Him as a Saviour. We preach redemption through His blood. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. He will not turn away any who seek Him for salvation.
Thanks for listening. Ring again tomorrow as we think about Patrick being brought as a slave to Ireland and how he became a real true Bible Christian. Remember, this is what we want you to do! Become a true Christian and know it is well with your soul. May God bless you.

Hi! Thank you for calling the HOTLINE Please listen to the whole two minute message. Tomorrow is St Patrick's Day when we remember the man credited with bringing this country the gospel of Christ. Although Patrick has been hi-jacked by those who preach a false sacramental gospel of works, yet we will not fail to remember this man whose message emphasised salvation by grace alone.
Patrick was brought to Ireland, probably from Scotland, as a kidnapped slave. Like the prodigal son in the far country, while down in the dumps, he began to think of home and this reminded him of the Christian upbringing he had formally despised. In this dark hour, however, Patrick turned to Christ as His Saviour. In his own words: The Lord opened the understanding of my unbelieving heart that I might recall my sins and turn with all my heart to the Lord my God. He does not mention anyone else in this connection…because there is no one else to mention. There is no salvation outside of Jesus Christ. This great decision changed him forever, because if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature completely.
Thanks for listening. Ring again tomorrow as we think about Patrick returning to Ireland to tell folk how to be saved. Remember, this is what we want for you! We want you to become a true Christian. If you leave your name and address, we will send you free literature which will show you how you can.

Hi! Happy St Patrick's Day to you! Thank you for calling the HOTLINE We have been on the ball now for a few days thinking about Patrick. We saw him ignore his upbringing, centred as it was, around the word of God. We saw him brought to Ireland as a slave. We rejoiced how God used these harrowing circumstances to bring him to true saving faith in Jesus Christ.
Well, we must hurry on as this is the last message in this series. Patrick escaped from his slavery and left Ireland, but he tells us of a dream he had which brought him back to these shores once again. In this dream, he heard the voice of the Irish invoking him as a holy youth to walk among them once more. This dream greatly disturbed Patrick but he was true to his God (as all Christians ought to be) and in a few short years, he was back on Irish soil.
Despite much opposition, he preached the gospel that men are saved by faith alone in Christ alone and many were truly converted to Jesus Christ. We hope you get saved too! It is little use raising your glass to St Patrick, if you ignore his Saviour who died to save sinners by shedding His blood at Calvary.
Thanks again for ringing. Do ring the hotline tomorrow as we look at a fresh subject or text. Leave your name and address and we will send you a little gospel booklet about Patrick.
