LETTER SENT TO: IRISH TIMES/IRISH INDEPENDENT/EXAMINER NEWSPAPER
SUBJECT: GIFT OF SCRIPTURE BOOKLET PUBLISHED BY THE RC CHURCH
DATE SENT: 5-10-05
Dear Sir,
Some days more than others, we thank God for the Protestant
Reformation. Today is such a day. The Roman Catholic Church tells us in
its "Gift of Scripture" document that we should not expect "total
accuracy" from the Bible and that "We should not expect to find in
Scripture full scientific accuracy or complete historical
precision…" This is sheer spiritual anarchy and arrogance all
rolled into one. Who is Rome to sit in judgement over the word of God?
Rome will not arrest the drift from her communion by discrediting the
word of God. For any who perceive their need to grasp something that
doesn't shift with men's ever changing and failing notions, please let
me recommend the one Book that has been around long before Rome came
and will be around long after Rome has disappeared off the map. Those
who trust this Book explicitly can look any theologian, scientist,
philosopher or historian straight in the eye and say: "Prove me wrong."
They can't.
