LIFE IS LIKE A
MOUNTAIN RAILROAD |
![]() |
1) Every one is the passenger on this railroad. But let's not generalise. Let each of us take this message personally. It will not benefit us any to be ever applying God's word to other people. If we are ever going to be saved, then we must apply God's word in all its warnings and promises etc., to ourselves alone. The poor publican in the temple went down to his house justified because he cried out and said: "God be merciful to ME a sinner." (Luke 18:13) It is very easy to hide in the anonymity of the crowd, making our escape from rising up to our responsibilities. No one was ever saved doing that. We get saved when we come with our hands up, acknowledging our individual guilt before God and by believing as individuals upon the Lord Jesus Christ. |

2) Every railroad has a beginning. Ours began when we were born in sin and shapen in iniquity.(Psalm 51:5) This is why we need to be saved. We were born with Adam's sin imputed to us, and we soon added to it with plenty of our own. Not the best of starts was it? This is why you don't have to teach a child to cheat or lie etc., It comes naturally to him through his fallen nature. This is why our heart is said to be deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: and the great question is asked: Who can know it? Jeremiah 17:9) |

3) Every railroad has various twists and turns. Ours have led us into sin and shame, and therefore guilt before a Holy God. God cannot look favourably upon sin. He must punish it and He will. If we review our life, surely there are things we have thought, said and done, that we must hold the bitterest of regrets over? One day, we must give an account of all our deeds (Romans 14:12) and every last twist and turn on the railroad of our life will be scrutinized and examined by the all seeing eye of God. There is no perfect crime. God says: "Be sure, your sin will find you out" (Numbers 32:23) |

4) Every train on every railroad has a driver. Ours is either Jesus Christ, or it is the Devil himself. But it cannot be both, and it can only be Jesus Christ if we are born again of God (John 3:3) Listen to the word of God: Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? (Romans 6:16) Jesus Christ said: Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. (John 8:34) Those who are as yet unsaved are in bondage to the Devil. He holds them captive at his will (1 Timothy 2:26) You cannot break these chains by your own power. You need to be set free by the truth of the gospel (John 8:32) This is why Jesus Christ died. He died to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself (Hebrews 9:26) and to destroy the work of the Devil who binds sinners (1 John 3:8) This is why He rose again. This is why He is able to save all to the uttermost who come unto God by Him (Hebrews 7:25) |

5) Every railroad has an end. It is either Heaven or Hell - Which one is yours? Your answer will be sealed by what you do with Jesus Christ. He alone can save you. It is not your relationship to a church that saves. It is Christ and Christ alone by His death on Calvary. Heaven or hell, although a little blunt in the stating, are eternal realities. What will you do with Jesus? It is the purpose of these evangelistic cards and their accompanying messages her eon this internet site to encourage you to take Him as your Lord and Saviour. Heaven can be your eternal destiny. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (John 1:12) May you do so today. |
