WHAT ARE YOU BUILDING ON?
The parable of the two builders Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great. (Luke 6:47-48) |
| YOU ARE BUILDING ON SAND IF... |
YOU ARE BUILDING ON THE ROCK IF... |
| ...You are looking to your good works to save you This kind of thinking comes up in words like "Well...I'm not too bad a person. I do this or that and that must surely count with God!" The Bible says that Salvation is by grace through faith and not of works lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9) Again: Not by works of righteousness that we have done...(Titus 3:5) Your good works are described in the Bible as "filthy rags" (Isaiah 64:6) and that is no foundation upon which to build for ETERNITY.
|
You are looking alone to Jesus Christ alone to be your Saviour
(Acts 4:12) Neither
is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under
heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12) Jesus Christ alone is God's appointed Saviour and no one else. His name alone means "Saviour" and He is so called because He [alone] will save His people from their sins (Matthew 1:21) Those who try to climb up some other way are likened unto thief and robbers (John 10:1) - Jesus Christ alone is the Door and if by Him any man enter in, then he shall be saved (John 10:9)
|
| ...You are looking to a church or a sacrament to save you Many who recognise that they cannot save themselves and must seek outside help, nevertheless look to the wrong place. No church, whether Roman or Reformed or whatever can save you. The purest church on earth cannot save you. No sacrament can save you. No one was ever saved by a sacrament, whether baptism (immersion or sprinkling, adult or infant) or the Lord's Supper. To look here is to look in vain and to be lost. Avoid! |
...You
are trusting explicitly in the blood which He shed in His finished work
upon the Cross for the forgiveness to your sins (Ephesians 1:7) In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; (Ephesians 1:7) It is "faith in His blood" (Romans 3:25) that makes us acceptable to God. Throw away all your self effort and abandon yourself to the successful work of Christ. Those in Heaven sing this wonderful song: Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, (Revelation 1:5) This was their only hope for eternity and it did not let them down when it mattered. |
| ... You pray to anyone other than our Lord Jesus Christ to save you Many people look to the Blessed Virgin to pray for them now and in their hour of death. With all due respects, Mary has no special place in Heaven. There is only one Mediator between God and men - the man Christ Jesus (1 Timothy 2:5) Jesus said that He alone is the Way, the truth and the life, adding significantly that no man cometh to the Father except by Him (John 14:6) Even if not intended, yet the introduction of another in this regard insults the finished, complete and perfect work of Christ. |
Your life has been changed by the saving power of Jesus Christ
(2 Corinthians 5:17)
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17) I must emphasise that this is an evidence of salvation and not a cause. We cannot regenerate ourselves nor make ourselves fir for the presence of God. But those who are redeemed and justifed, show the evidence by their holy living and desire to do the will of God. |
| ... You are hoping that God will simply forget about your sins and let you into Heaven This is the vain fancy of those who in reality love their sins. It ignores the concept that God is Light and jealous of His holiness and presents His mercy and love in such a way that they seem to endorse the sins of those who embrace this way of salvation. There is absolutely no Scripture for the alternative view and many Scriptures against it, not least that God will by no means clear the guilty (Exodus 34:7) and And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life. (Revelation 21:27) This is why you need to flee NOW to Jesus Christ and get the mattered settled properly. |
