THE RED TICKET

A useful illustration drawn from a series of incidents
on a train journey in the United States of America, demonstrating that only
the blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son,
can wash away our sins and ensure
that we have a place in God's Heaven

THE STORY

A man enroute by train from New York to Boston took his seat in the carriage. When the conductor came down the aisle  collecting fares, he handed him the correct money and received a RED TICKET which he promptly put into his hatband and placed on the rack above his head.

At the first stop, a number of people got off and a number got on.  The conductor returned, and not recognising the man, demanded again the fare. Without a word, the man pointed to the RED TICKET above and the conductor hurried on.

This happened every time the train stopped along the journey. Soon, the passenger wearied of theinterruption and the dry machine-like voice that cried, "Tickets!" after every stop. The next time the shadow of the conductor fell upon him, his eyes never left  his newspaper, but he simply pointed to the RED TICKET in his hatband and the conductor was silenced again.

A very import lesson may be quickly drawn from this incident. There is only one thing that will get a soul into God's Heaven and that is THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST, His Son, which cleanseth us from all sin (1 John 1:7). God says, "When I see THE BLOOD, I will pass over you." (Exodus 12:13) Jesus Christ paid the price in full. In Him, alone, we have redemption through HIS BLOOD, even the forgiveness of our sins. (Colossians 1:14)

Are you sheltering under the BLOOD OF JESUS?
If not, call upon the name of the Lord and you will be saved. (Romans 10:13)

Note: The RED TICKET in the graphic above provides us with a further  important point
Two people or more could not travel on this ticket - but only one

Likewise in the gospel - we cannot travel to Heaven on the basis of the faith or another
A mother or father's faith cannot save us

We need a PERSONAL knowledge of the Lord Jesus as our Lord and Saviour

We must come INDIVIDUALLY as sinners to Jesus and seek the Lord while He may be found
Otherwise, we will be lost and undone for all eternity

The Lord Jesus told Nicodemus:
Ye (Singular) must be born again (John 3:7)
Nicodemus had come seeking Jesus on behalf of a body of people
Yet the application that Jesus made was so personal
Do not seek to hide in the faith of another
Flee to Christ today and you will be saved

THE SCRIPTURE

5 THINGS THAT THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST DOES FOR THE TRUSTING SOUL:

1) ATONES:
For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. (Leviticus 17:11)

2)
REDEEMS:
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, [as] silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
 (1 Peter 1:18-19)

3) CLEANSES:
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. (1 John 1:7)

4) PARDONS:
And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. (Hebrews (9:22)

5) JUSTIFIES:
Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. (Romans 5:9)
